Bennett Ranked #1 for Smaller HBCUs that are Rising

Bennett College receives another national recognition that honors its smallness as a strength. The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) ranked Bennett number one in their “2020 Ten Top Smaller HBCUs That Are Rising” list. The list is comprised of small private and public historically black institutions that are rising in providing education with smaller class sizes, dedicated faculty and spiritual values.

In honor of Women’s History Month (March) and International Women’s Day (March 8), Bay Path University, Springfield Museums, and the Springfield Women’s Commission will present the fourth annual On the Move Forum on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the Springfield Museums, 21 Edwards St, Springfield, MA. This year’s theme, "Generation Equality: “Stand up, Stand Out - RISE” offers attendees an intergenerational, cross-cultural, gender-inclusive conversation focused on women’s rights, civic engagement, career opportunities, and wealth. Now in its fourth year, the forum explores women's history and the advancement of women.

Simmons University Names Lynn Perry Wooten as Ninth President

Dr. Lynn Perry Wooten has been unanimously selected to serve as Simmons University’s ninth president, effective July 1, 2020.  Dr. Wooten will succeed Helen G. Drinan, who ends her term in June after serving as Simmons’ president for the past 12 years. Simmons University offers the only undergraduate program for women in Boston and numerous nationally recognized graduate programs open to all.

Alverno Community Conference Will Explore Women’s Empowerment From Suffrage to #MeToo Movement

 Alverno College will host its annual Community Conference on Friday, February 28, which will focus on exploring women's empowerment from the suffrage era to today’s #MeToo movement. Tiffany Henry, president of the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals and Milwaukee Office Director for U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, will serve as the keynote speaker for the event, which is open to the public.

Hollins University Names Mary Dana Hinton, Ph.D., as the New President

Hollins University has announced that Mary Dana Hinton, Ph.D.,  president of the College of Saint Benedict (Saint Ben’s) in St. Joseph, Minnesota, will become the school’s next president. She officially takes office on August 1.

College of Saint Mary Announces Plans for Multi-Million Dollar Wellness & Athletic Center

College of Saint Mary (CSM) has approved the construction of its new state-of-the-art $18 million athletic facility, which will provide its students and the greater Omaha area with a place for women to excel and grow through athletics. Attached to the Lied Fitness Center, CSM’s Wellness & Athletic Center (WAC) will dramatically expand access to year-round training, recreation and performance spaces for students, athletes, and the surrounding community.

Kimberly Allen Named New Vice President for Academic Affairs at College of Saint Mary

College of Saint Mary President Dr. Maryanne Stevens, RSM, is pleased to announce that Dr. Kimberly Allen has been named the University’s new vice president for academic affairs. She began her duties on January 20.

As vice president for academic affairs, Allen will serve as the chief academic officer for CSM and be responsible for all educational activities in the undergraduate and graduate academic programs. She will also direct faculty in planning, evaluating and revising curriculum.

Alverno College Appoints Joseph Foy as New Vice President of Academic Affairs

President Andrea Lee, IHM, has appointed Joseph Foy, Ph.D., vice president for Academic Affairs. Foy, who is currently dean of the College of Arts, Sciences and Letters at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis., begins his appointment April 15.
